Why Growth Starts With You

Here is what we believe. Prioritizing your own growth shapes what comes next. Not just for you, but for your team and your organization.

I’ve learned this the hard way. There were times when my schedule and daily demands completely took over, and the most important work, my own growth, slipped. The result was clear. I wasn’t moving forward, and neither was the team. Opportunities passed, and the work we could have accomplished together never happened.

Growth begins with awareness. Paying attention to what works, where we struggle, and where we can improve is ongoing. It takes humility to admit what is not yet known and courage to face it. When growing and expanding ourselves becomes a priority, growth for others starts to ripple through the team.

Noticing ourselves isn’t easy. Being self-conscious is one thing, but self-awareness is something else entirely. It’s understanding how your thoughts and actions affect the people around you. Too often, our own habits and assumptions get in the way. It’s easier to spot in others, yet starting with self-awareness builds authenticity in the team. Sharing struggles openly, even when it feels uncomfortable, creates a space where people feel safe to speak up about what will help them move forward.

At Warrick, we see every leader as a catalyst. Growth is never just about the individual. The choices leaders make to grow influence their team’s confidence and engagement. Leadership is about creating a space where you and your team can become more than you are today.

Try this: Pick one area where you want to grow. Talk about it with someone around you. What you do now sets the tone for what comes next. Growth starts with you, but its impact can reach farther than you imagine.
